An informal
wedding agreement between Caydance and Griff had been thrown to the winds. They were not spending lonely midweek nights apart to work on their own careers. Furthermore, Caydance was rethinking the decision that as wife of the Head Coach, she need only go to the home games. Surprisingly, she wanted to drive out to the Sacramento Valley on Saturday afternoon when Huygens Tech played Sac Valley. Watching Griff in command on the sidelines, watching his team play as well as they had against Humboldt was far more satisfactory than expected. But, accompanying his team, Griff would be riding on a chartered bus, and they could not drive to the Sacramento Valley together.
With Saturday waiting for Griff’s return from Sacramento Valley on her mind, she was walking home from the library, where she had been reading San Francisco Chronicle society pages in a quixotic search for information about the woman who bought the original music box. Between this mystery and her Father's failure so far to locate the whereabouts of Pete Lafitte, she was unsure how to continue the investigation.
She also needed to contact Jack about the possibility that someone had secretly entered Sido’s studio. Jack was not known for making his whereabouts known, but when Caydance reached her studio, in front of her building was a familiar car.
