music box From her gallery,, Sido retrieved a small screwdriver with a thin flat blade. "It never occurred to me to remove the floor of the compartment where -- beneath the music mechanism -- the Book of Hours was housed. There is very little space between that compartment floor and the bottom of the box."

Carefully, she separated the diorama on the top from the sizeable bottom. "My Dad is a musician; I wanted to see the music mechanism. Inside, the Book of Hours was visible beneath the thick plexiglass shelf on which the mechanism was mounted." She pulled on a small ring that was also mounted on the plexiglass and removed the mechanism, revealing the now empty storage compartment.

arrow On the floor of the storage compartment was a side slot into which the screwdriver blade could be inserted. Sido inserted the screwdriver blade and carefully lifted off a thin piece of wood. Underneath were several pieces of paper. Visible on the top was a document that deeded the Book of Hours to whomever bought the Music Box at the art school fundraiser. Underneath this deed were several barely legible scraps of paper.
