Soon, in her studio, from the album that contained Erik Satie's Descriptions automatiques, recognizable lines of the music box song emerged. Tomorrow, her students would work on Fluxus container books. The way that elements of structure and content in the historical examples she presented seeped into student work and emerged -- sometimes initially detectable sometimes threaded seamlessly into the work -- was always surprising.

To boxes of all kinds, found objects, toys, mementos, photographs, texts, last week, she added computer disks and continuous feed computer paper. One student used computer paper as wallpaper in a doll house-like box, where inside a family fight composed with doll-like figures was in progress.

Tomorrow would the figures inside the computer wall-papered box move to the slowly appearing bedroom?

arrow Another student cut a slot into a black painted box. Stuck into that slot, he inserted a computer disk. What would happen inside the black painted box, from which a computer disk entered and/or or emerged?
