A minute or so after
in the coach's cottage, Griff powered up his new television, a view of San Francisco appeared on the screen. "We made it home, just in time," he said to Caydance. On the screen, reminiscent of the bronze cast of Rodin's The Thinker, that graces the entry to the San Francisco Legion of Honor, an image of down-two San Francisco Giant's manager, Roger Craig, appeared, followed by A's pitcher Dave Stewart's "death stare"; a Dave Parker home run; and -- looking like a member of the Star Wars cast -- A's relief pitcher, Dennis Eckersley. The Giant's Dugout appeared, followed one-by-one by Giants players' Jerseys; another View of San Francisco; Candlestick Park; Music: "Hello Friends". Caydance took two beers out of the refrigerator. Opened them, handed one to Griff. Emptied a bag of tortilla chips into a bowl. Mashed up two avocados.
Citing harsh stats regarding comebacks after two-game World Series deficits, on the screen, Al Michaels appeared, backed by full-crowd Candlestick stands. Caydance added fresh tomatoes, jalapenos, cilantro, garlic, onion, and lemon juice to the avocados. In the broadcast booth, Tim McCarver joined Michaels. Griff was drinking beer, and to start on the chips, he had not waited for the guacamole . McCarver replayed events that occurred in Game Two. Caydance looked up to see Canseco slide into home plate on Dave Parker's powerful just-missed-home run double. Parker was on second base. As if picked up by a giant, the Coach's Cottage began to shake. Wildly.
