By almost lunch time, a crowd of football players were gathered around the Welcome Football Team booth: two Offensive Lineman from New Jersey, one from the Jersey Shore and one from Montclair; a Cornerback from Camden, whose interception record was legendary in South Jersey; a Wide Receiver from Ipswich, Massachusetts, who unbelievably had chosen Huygens over MIT; a Wide Receiver from Charleston West Virginia, who was serious about aerospace engineering; a Defensive Lineman from Plymouth NH, whose father taught chemistry at the University of New Hampshire. From New Orleans, a Defensive Lineman with a Huygens electronics engineering scholarship had taken public transportation to his Uncle's home in East Palo Alto.

From Bell Gardens, California, arrived two Defensive Tackles who looked big for math majors; From Fresno, California, arrived a Center, who was 6' 4" tall but obviously adverse to the weight room. A 260 pound backup Quarterback arrived from Oakland Tech. A Running Back arrived from the mountain town of Truckee, California. From a Bakersfield lettuce field, it had been a long hot drive for the Tight End. No one in his family had ever been to college.

The starting Quarterback from La Salle High School in Concord, California was on his way. Meanwhile, Special Teams Coach, Robbie O'Arragan, was at that very moment at the San Francisco airport picking up his Nephew, kicker Will O'Arragan (formerly from University College Dublin).

studio icon Although not precisely the Raiders summer camp in Santa Rosa, there was an aura of excitement as player after player arrived, signed the roster and picked up their silver and blue practice gear.
