Fueled with shrimp kabobs and prime rib, Griff was on a roll. "At home, we beat the Humboldt Rangers, last year's number two team in the league. In away games, we beat the Sacramento Valley Harriers and the Pacific Ocean Music Conservatory." He paused to drink deeply from a newly filled glass of foaming beer. "OK, so we lost to last year's number one Diablo Mountain College Wolves. Looks like they are heading for a repeat season, but they haven't played Humboldt yet.
"On the road again, we beat the Rogue River Eagles. At home we beat the LA Basin Swifts. We are 5-1."
Griff paused for effect. "Even without the probably sure win against Redwood Forest, we look good for second in the league. We might have been in a position to tie for first if the Wolves lose a game, but since due to the earthquake we will not be playing Redwood Forest, that is less likely."
"Whatever happens in the final games, your job is secure," Durango responded. "All I was hoping for was a break even season. Can you fill us in on the final three games?"
"I've got the schedule here." Griff pulled a crumpled printout from his pocket.
