Griff looked across the field to where semi-intimidating Coach GC Lozano stood, his extra-large Bulls Jacket shining in the afternoon sun. Huygens was in second place in the League standings; in third place, the Lodi Bulls were tied with the El Dorado Polytech Engineers. If Lodi beat Huygens, and El Dorado Poly lost their game today, Lodi and Huygens would be tied for second place. The Diablo Mountain Wolves were, of course, number one in the standings.

Griff was not inclined to use any plays from GC's abandoned playbooks. After GC threatened Griff's Quarterback at Dream Fluff Donuts, this game had gone beyond Coach Lozano's treatment of Edelira. And, although Griff had spent enough time with those playbooks to absorb the genesis of Lozano's thinking as regards Defense strategies, the game film itself was also useful. In that film, it was apparent that the Lodi Bull's Offense was weak and poorly coached, but GC's Defense was big, strong, and skilled at veiled violence. Smaller players, particularly 5'9" Quarterback River Angelos, would need all the muscle the O-Line could muster, but Griff had faith in his Offensive Linemen.

When the Bulls Offense were on the field, Defensive Tackles Noah Jones and Darnell Terrell Medina were powerful, well versed in the importance of stance, take off, route running, and speed, worked well together, and were always motivated by the opportunity to flatten opponents. However, without experienced Defensive Ends, until now, Huygens had not been in a position to be a contender in Sacks. The league leader in Sacks was the Lodi Bulls. But if the Bulls thought that their quarterback would not be sacked by the Huygens D-line, they were in for a surprise.

arrow And if they made it to the red zone, in the Huygens Secondary they would face Safety Edward Gabriel Arduin -- Eddy-Gabe from New Orleans - and hefty physics star, Cornerback Terell Orsino Washington from Camden New Jersey.

Looking up at the Huygens stands, Griff smiled at how Caydence looked in her silver jacket and tight sky blue jeans. He waved at his wife, and then walked over to where Backup Quarterback Damian Jefferson Tyler was talking with Defense Coach Kekoa Alualu.
