At the magnificent barbeque that Durango hosted in honor of the D3 football team's remarkable first season, the Cafeteria and Faculty Club chefs created an amazing array of food. Presidents Lawn was a heaven of barbequed ribs; lemon roasted chicken; baked potatoes surrounded by colorful bowls of sweet butter, sour cream, cheddar cheese, parsley, and bacon; potatoes au gratin; guacamole; tortilla chips; Mexican street corn; Polish sausages; grilled eggplant, skewered with red bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions; German potato salad; Caesar salad; and an entire table of assorted pies accompanied by an enormous bowl of whipped cream. Every student in the school was welcome at this finals study week feast.

Team Center, Big Dog, and his track team girlfriend brought a lunch box which they filled with food, presumably to accompany late night studies. Defensive Tackles Noah Jones and Darnell Terrell Medina were eating their way across the lawn, accompanied by legendary Backup Quarterback Damian Jefferson Tyler. Team Quarterback, River Angelos, sat on the lawn beside an ethereally beautiful young woman. They were clearly more interested in each other than in the vast array of food. She was, Griff observed, the El Dorado game Glockenspiel player.

The driver of a heading-down-the-road rare TMC Costin was Will O'Arragan on his way to San Francisco. The new Athletic Director, Akoni Alualu, introduced his and Defense Coach Kekoa's brother, Malulani Alualu, the new West Coast Hawaiian Beer distributer. Having confined himself to the campus when he generously lent his car to his nephew, Special Teams Coach Robbie O'Arragan was distracted by an attractive librarian. He had never before seen her because he was not a going-to-the-library engineer.

To Durango and Griff, DeJuan introduced his glamorous rapper and computer scientist girlfriend. In the center of a crowd of women students, Gerry Sun was reliving his glorious runs, in each episode giving credit to the linemen who had flattened terrifying opposition defense. "This is good!", Griff said to Durango.

On the front steps to Presidents House, Mira and Caydance were sitting together, drinking white wine from flower-decorated coffee cups. "Your Dad's offer of support for an ice skating rink that will benefit not only a hockey team but also women and men ice skaters is under serious consideration", Mira said to Caydance.
