But, the way in which Sido, born in New Orleans now living in California, had originally envisioned bringing this Book of Hours to Nova Scotia did not take into account Northern snow and icy winter weather on a route that involved the Upper Mississippi and the Saint Lawrence River. And so it came to pass that because Sido had accepted Tyrone's proposal of marriage, and because he could only take vacation in winter when baseball was not in season -- a new plan was created.
Sido and Tyrone had been invited to spend the beginning of December at Pete and Merry's Lodge la Belle Montagne. Anne-Merry and Nico St Denis would also be spending December in this Jay Peak lodge, which in the year that Anne-Merry was born, was a gift from Pete's Mississippi River boat gambler Grandfather, Hughie Lafitte. From Lodge la Belle Montagne, Sido and Tyrone would deliver the Music Box Book of Hours to Nova Scotia.
Then, they would follow Jacques Marie St Pierre Frazier's original journey from Acadia to Louisiana -- by car (overnighting at inns) along the Saint Laurance River and down the Mississippi Great River Road until they reached Memphis. From warmer-in-winter Memphis, they would sail down the Mississippi to New Orleas, where they would marry in the Christmas season. When they returned home to California, Tyrone would work on preparing the Coliseum for the baseball season. Sido also had plans.
As yet undecided was whether in Memphis they would take a managed cruise on a paddle wheel steamboat line or rent a houseboat. On Sacramento River Delta fishing trips, Tyrone had piloted house boats. Piloting a houseboat on the Mississippi was his dream. But this was not an accustomed lifestyle for Sido. She dreamed of an enchanting paddle wheel steamboat cruise with music, dancing, and New Orleans cuisine.
