JiaJia Bao: film and manuscript
With "I" as the protagonist, this story tells the process of a girl from Suzhou, China, searching for herself and trying to find answers under the conflict between Western culture and Asian culture. In this short film, music and irregular movements are used to show the emotions and struggles of "I". Centering on a slender woman, it shows women's struggle against the world. I used to be in the United States for seven years. This is how I faced some malice with confusion. And when I was about to graduate, before leaving this country. As I see this country, the world is hurting Asian women more and more. My sadness and confusion also increased. However, I am still hoping that the world will change. The Asian women will be treated in a way more fair and respected way.
The subject is “ Anti-Asian-Hate”...It seems that this terrible situation is getting worse. According to the global pandemic, people are suffering from the intension and scary emotions. But how can we use our arts to change the hate and make the angry group realize that the world needs peace and love to fight for this global situation together. This is not just for this class, it is also for me, for thousands of Asians who study and live abroad like me to get fair treatment.
