Sophia Jane Lucas: experience a house over the course of three days
HTML5 and CSS

.... an interactive website of images inside a house with audio and written words to supplement it. It takes place over three days, and tells a narrative of how people take up the space and make it theirs...
I was inspired by JR Carpenter's poems; "Notes on the Voyage of Owl and Girl" and "This is a Picture of Wind"...I was mostly inspired by her poem about wind, because of how she was able to illustrate and give meaning to something that we cannot see directly.
My idea is to bring meaning to something I can't see, and to me that's what goes on behind closed doors. I was once on a walk and saw a house getting torn down, and it was fascinating to me that so much life was lived in such a small plot of land. It's interesting to think about who lives in which houses, what they're like, and what problems they're going through. I want to create short poems or fictional excerpts that give an impression to the viewer of what is going on in the lives of these people....I decided to narrow down my focus to one house in a neighborhood. One reason is that I feel like it is too hard to follow multiple narratives over time, and another is that I want the viewer to be able to click on the door and be placed inside the house. I will create multiple drawings for this. I will make these drawings on Photoshop, with a base line drawing of the street view of the house, and living room. One day someone may be laying on the couch, another day the dog sits by the window when the family is out. The idea is that I use the same drawing for each day, only making subtle changes to mark the change in time.
