At 11:00 PM on Friday night, Griff and Durango walked the corridors of the Rogue River Lodge. There was much good-natured laughter from the players as on an informal bedcheck, the Head Coach and the President of the College walked into bedrooms, pushing a cart of assorted fruit juices, milk, and lodge-baked oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies.

Running backs Gerry and B2 were sharing a two-bed room; two wide receivers, Casey and The Baron, were sharing a three-bed room with Rocco, the punter from Sicily. On the table in the room shared by the Center, Big Dog, and the starting Quarterback, River Angelos, was a tray of pistachio baklava, a small bottle labeled "Greek Mastika", and two empty shot glasses. Neither Griff nor Durango knew what Mastika was, but they noticed that Big Dog was not there. Suddenly, the door opened and in walked Big Dog, looking slightly disheveled. "I thought your girlfriend was a Mormon," Griff remarked.

"Yes, but the waitress in the lounge is not a Mormon," Big Dog replied.

"Have some Baklava," River suggested.

The odor of local IPA and local grass permeated a room that Wide Receiver, DeJuan, was sharing with Tight End, Caesar. But none of these substances were in sight. "Fruit juice, milk, or oatmeal cookies?" Durango asked. Pointedly.

Soon, all was quiet in the corridors of the Rogue Valley Lodge, except for loud noises that sounded like a party in the room that two coaches, Robbie and Kekoa, were sharing. Griff and Durango knocked. Inside, were not only Robbie and Kekoa, but also Kekoa's brother, the beer distributor. Except for empty bottles of Maui Lager. there was not much else on the table. Griff had a feeling that Kekoa's brother was not going to be their new Athletic Operations Manager.
