lodi_beer "How did you get here?" Caydance asked the two distinguished men, who were unexpectedly sitting beside her in the University of Lodi Stadium.

"Very fast", said Griff's Father, Professor Claude McGuire. "Have you ever taken a ride in Professor Bond's car?"

I have not had that pleasure", Caydance replied. Politely. She was not well acquainted with Professor Bond, but she was aware that it was Professor Bond who had recommended Griff for the job of Huygens Football Coach, and that it was Professor Bond who had driven his students, Defensive Tackles Noah and Darnell, to the Sac Valley game when a conflict with math tutoring in East Palo Alto had made that seemingly impossible.

"We were at a Conference in Reno when a problem arose in a paper that Bond and I are collaborating on", Caydance's Father-in-law explained. "Drinking beer and arguing about a dubious equation, we stayed in the hotel lobby so late that I missed my flight home. That was when Bond suggested that since he had his car with him, we could drive to Lodi to see his students and my son beat the Lodi Bulls."

The Lodi University band marched onto the field playing "Home On The Range". One of Bond's lab techs, who had spotted him in the stands, presented his distinguished professor with a takeout bag full to the brim with tacos and assorted sauces. From his briefcase Professor Bond withdrew two bottles of Strongbow and a bottle opener (that also had undisclosed other uses). The computer science students in the Huygens Band played "Mamas. don't let your sons grow up to be cowboys". Professor Bond and Professor McGuire were drinking Strongbow and eating tacos. It was time for the coin toss.
