Outside the Hotel, Caydance and Susanna stood together. Together on this Monday morning, they would look for evidence that it was Ted himself who hung his post war painting on the studio wall. It was possible, Nico had pointed out, that someone else did this in Ted's memory.
Caydance's original assignment had been to discover the identity of the occupant of the boarded-up studio that was at one time accessible from the hotel lobby. That had been done. But -- to the architecture firm in charge of the hotel renovations -- had Jack or Nico relayed the possibility that Ted Treharne was alive? Was the hotel management aware of what she had found? Given that the fate of Ted Treharne might be of interest to the shadowy agency for which Jack and Nico worked, she now wanted to know the answers to these questions.
